Floral Trends for 2020

December 17, 2019

Believe it or not, 2020 is just around the corner! With that in mind we are sharing the latest on all things floral trends for the upcoming year.

Vibrancy is the name of the game in 2020. Bright, exciting colors like orange, bright green and bold shades of red, blue and purple will be featured in florals across the board. Expect to see the use of metals to accent these eye-popping blossoms and add more depth to each design.

You’ll see a torrent of accent flowers and greenery as brides walk down the aisle with over-the-top cascading bouquets. Free-form style florals still reign supreme in 2020 and we predict will remain for years to come.

More neutral color palettes and white weddings will take a break this year, as well as more structured bouquets and centerpieces. Instead, couples are loving the wild and overgrown look that gives an effortless and more natural effect.

We are always learning new things from each and every client, and we can’t wait to see what this new year has in store!

Our team had the pleasure of designing many aspects of the decor, curating all the floral arrangements, and planning each detail without a hitch! We loved the whimsical, ombre floral designs that featured different blooms in shades varying from lavender to eggplant. View their beautiful day by visiting Rustic Bride’s website here

Martha Stewart Weddings

When it comes to deciding the flowers for your bouquets in high-traffic areas, choosing less delicate blooms is the best way to help them stand up to a lot of handling. But how do you know which flowers to avoid?

We are thrilled to share that Oleta has recently been featured as one of the guest experts on Martha Stewart Weddings, sharing which flowers are best for bouquets. To view which flowers Oleta recommends, access the full article here.

YourTango

If you’re getting ready to plan your wedding reception or if you are in the middle of planning it, we invite you to read our advice on YourTango, highlighting six (critical!) things you need to know during this stage of wedding planning. A wedding reception has so many aspects, but have no fear, as Oleta shared her insight on the timing of your dinner service.

Gilded Ballroom Retirement Fête

October 22, 2019

After 25 years of service, a retirement celebration for Bahram Ghaffari, the President of the Delano Regional Medical Center, is just what the doctor ordered!

Our goal was to design and choreograph an awe-filled event that epitomized opulent glamour with its décor, entertainment, white-glove service, and many other special touches.

When guests arrived at the Bakersfield Marriott, they were greeted by a parade of servers offering trays of wine while enjoying the tunes of an eccentric piano musician.

Once cocktail hour concluded, greeters simultaneously opened the ballroom doors to reveal the swanky, candlelit room. While the guests located their tables, under black crystal chandeliers while walking through the low-lying fog that swept across the room. Everyone’s attention then fell to the seamless black gloss dance floor, where two tango dancers floated across for the next round of entertainment.

The dining tables featured an abundance of gold accents, candlesticks, candles votives, and towering white floral candelabra centerpieces. Guests sat down to enjoy a delectable dinner that ended with  “a flamed” baked Alaska presentation.

The evening was filled with heartfelt speeches from close friends and colleagues while a world-class Salsa band rounded out the evening’s entertainment. As expected, the evening ended with guests dancing the night away.

A big thank you to our amazing creative partners and their staff who helped make it a real success!

Harvest of Hope Produce Styled Event

September 24, 2019

Over the last six years, the Catholic Charities organizes a Harvest of Hope fundraiser to support their programs and services to provide help and create hope for those in the greatest of need. We were thrilled to conceptualize and craft the design of this fantastic charity event last year! It was a pleasure to help honor the individuals within the Bakersfield community who have continuously supported Harvest of Hope. And to play a small role in assisting the raising of funds for the Catholic Charities beneficial programs to continue!

For the overall event design, we wanted to incorporate local produce that would be donated to the Bakersfield Food Bank after the evening’s festivities. Subtle details of soft burlap runners, pistachio tinted antique glassware, gold chargers and grass-colored linens placed on farm tables were incorporated to accentuate our design. These elements, along with our bright floral arrangements, allowed harvest like apples, grapes, carrots, cabbage and more to pop off the tablescapes.

We cannot say enough kind things about Catholic Charities’ Harvest of Hope event! And, we invite you to take a moment to save the date for their 2019 fundraiser by learning more here. Thank you to In Motion Pro for helping us share some of our favorite moments!

Tropical Style Family Luau

August 27, 2019

Grab your passport, because we’re taking you to the tropics!

We cannot think of a better way to kick off a new school year than the Aloha Dance at Garces Memorial High School! But, before the party begins, one family invites all students, and their parents to an ohana-style celebration that has been a tradition for the last six years.  Since this was the last year the family would host the luau they really wanted to go over the top. By doing so, we made their guests feel as though they stepped onto a Hawaiian island!

For the design concept, we wanted to create a tropical oasis! The family pool was filled with inflatable beach balls, and an oversized, bright pink flamingo float. Our team used imported lush flowers in cheerful pinks and vibrant corals to play off the variety of lime, kelly green, and palm leaf printed linens.  Two of our favorite aspects of the party is the mocktail tiki bar with coconut cups and the prop-filled photo booth!

We hope you enjoy viewing all of these colorful images provided by April & Co. Photographers as much as we enjoyed designing this family luau from top to bottom!

Heartfelt 100th Enns Farm Celebration

August 13, 2019

When the 100th anniversary of Enns Farm was getting near, Richard Enns wanted to plan a monumental celebration that honored the years of his family’s legacy. With the hard work humbly labored on their farm, through cotton, alfalfa, garlic, corn, black-eyed peas, and, for the last 24 years, almonds, a party would be a perfect tribute.

Sadly, the year leading up to the event, Mr. Enns passed away. Nevertheless, his wife, Bonnie, and son, Jonathan carried his dream of a party that would commemorate the decades of farming and Mr. Enns life. When our team was asked to aid in the event plans and floral design,  it became our mission to pour our heart and soul into this gathering for the Enns family. By taking advantage of the endless array of antique farm equipment collected over the decades, we designed each display by hand. We also created wildflower arrangements in tin “vases” placed on bright, cobalt table linens and mason jar floral installations.

Thank you to In Motion Pro for helping us share a few of our favorite moments from the day, and thank you to the Enns family for entrusting us with your event logistics and design!

Wine Country Almond House Dinner

July 9, 2019

Our hearts are still singing after our delicious staging of Sextant Estate Vineyard’s Almond House photo shoot! Their turn-of-the-century farmhouse overlooks over one hundred acres of the Paso Robles wine country, which is the only setting you need for a paired dinner under the stars.

The open-air backdrop, the playful style of the modernized estate and savory wine invigorated our design. Our team designed a relaxed yet polished garland featuring gorgeous vines and opulent white flowers that were placed on creamy linen. Mingled with a few tea lights and branches from a Paper Birch – it’s obvious why we are enamored over this shoot!

This Flourishing Art team is pretty confident that you will be searching for your place setting as soon as you see these mesmerizing images by Mike Larson Photography!
