WIPA Awards 2019 Finalist: Flourishing Art

December 3, 2019

This has been a banner year for all of us at Flourishing Art! From beautifully produced events to some of our best workshops to date, we are grateful for every experience and opportunity 2019 has given us. With that in mind, we could not be more excited to share that Flourishing Art was a finalist for this year’s Wedding International Professionals Association (WIPA) Award for Floral Designer of Excellence for the wedding of Trisha and Ed!

We are truly honored to be part of such an incredibly talented group of artists who share the same passion for floral design that we do.

We planned Trisha and Ed’s luxurious Hollywood-inspired celebration the same way we do with each of our clients, just how they envision their once-in-a-lifetime wedding experience. Let’s take a look at how this romantic affair came together:

This destination wedding was designed to capture the essence of old-school, classic Hollywood with black and white accents and an abundance of romantic candlelight and all-white florals. In a time where everyone is doing white tents and drapery, we opted for lush black double chiffon, which created a rich mystique that made their wedding unlike any other.

Both inside and outside, lots of candlelight exuded warmth and romance that created an intimate atmosphere for all. The all-white florals added a lavish feel to their Hollywood celebration and paired beautifully with the dramatic black drapery and gold accents. For this wedding, we sourced over 3,000 blooms — including ranunculus, roses, tulips, lisianthus, hydrangeas, orchids, lilies, stock, larkspur, delphinium, mums, and assorted greenery like eucalyptus and ivy.

At the ceremony, we recognized the natural beauty of the Spanish mission church — it would have been a travesty to design over that work of art. Instead, we used flowers to complement the structure. The lush floral arrangements in white, ivory, and cream were designed to feel soft, elegant, and romantic atop the altar’s prominent ledges.

For the reception, each table was designed differently — but made to complement one another with clear glass vases in varying heights, and some with stems and some without. Each vase displayed only one type of white flower and was tied with a green and white variegated Ti leaf.

Altogether, these arrangements played beautifully into their wedding theme and took their vision to the next level. Thank you to InMotionPro for capturing this incredible wedding!

A big congrats to the winners- it was truly an honor to be celebrated among you!
